Race Analysis

SERPENTARIA made a winning debut here and did so comfortably, in what looked an average contest. The ex-Mark Prescott trained filly's jumping lacked a little fluency but this was a decent effort. Afterwards winning trainer Willie Mullins reported "SERPENTARIA comes from a good staying family but she is not a natural jumper and needs to improve a little in that department. She may go for a winners' race before Punchestown and will stay jumping, and possibly Flat racing, during the summer."

GLOBAL POSITION was well beaten in second but flew home and much go into the notebook following this run. He is still a maiden on the Flat but appears to have plenty of ability and will take beating in a maiden hurdle next time out.

FLY HOME CASSY showed improved form and ran a sound race. The filly was not helped by a last flight blunder and she may pick up a race at some stage.

MAXIMO, a five time Flat winner in Germany, is rated 103 and was a little disappointing while TRAFALGAR DAY stayed on for a never dangerous fifth and may be worth following in future runs.

LUCKY SPRING and BASKERVILLE were each well beaten but may be worth following in handicaps in time while AVANTI AVERT, a capable Flat performer, again showed nothing here but cannot be ruled out of future handicaps.

HUNTING TOWER was well backed in the morning but exited at the first.

Non-Runners were the three reserves.
